GW tennis team competes in Stockdale

Only three girls were taken to the Stockdale Varsity tournament on Friday, March 6.

Kathryn Davenport played in the girls’ singles division. She lost in the second round in a tough match against Poteet’s Mary Lomas (6-8), but later beat the remainder of her opponents (Rangel from Stockdale and Roberts from Navarro) to claim the 1st place consolation medal.

Katheryn Cansino and Arriel Millermon paired up for the girls’ doubles division. They lost in the first round to Runge’s Ramirez and Rios (4-8), but later beat the remainder of their opponents (Barkley/Mancada from Karnes City, McCown/Fleming from Marion and Sanchez/Torres from Runge to claim the 1st place consolation medals.

All of the girls worked hard and played well. The George West tennis teams will next travel to Port Aransas on Thursday and Friday for more tennis competition.
