I recently attempted to take advantage of the local dental program available at Coastal Bend College. The young lady student was very polite and professional. After two visits, I received a call this morning – five days since my last visit – saying that I was no longer welcome there and they could not finish my treatments.
My crime? What had I done that was so terrible while lying in a dental chair with my mouth full of dental tools that could possibly get me banned from the Coastal Bend College Dental Program? The answer: “The Word of God.” I invited the young lady to church and quoted her one verse of scripture. (She professed to be a Christian.)
Yep, that’s it! I was informed that she was deeply offended, as were all the students that overheard the Word of God. Indeed, “The Word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword”... evidently able to cut asunder even me from CBC.
It’s just as well. Like all other public, government and education facilities, if the Word of God isn’t welcome, I don’t wish to be there either.
“Just another brick in the wall.”

The students in the dental college paid money to learn a trade. If they wanted to hear the word of God, they could easily stop at one of the many places of worship in town, taken a religion course, or attended one of the meetings of the religious based groups that are on campus. Instead the pastor took advantage of a captive audience of students that were obliged to listen because they were scared of failing their dental courses.
The Word of any God has it's time and place and the Dental Clinic certainly wasn't the time or place to do any preaching.
