“Fire personnel gave all the students from pre-K through sixth grade a presentation on fire safety and the proper action to take during a fire,” FBCS director Orpha Garcia said. “This included sharing about the Stop, Drop & Roll technique, smoke alarm procedures and 911 protocol.”
One of the main highlights was the demonstration of the fire department’s new ladder fire truck, Tower One, to show the students how high the ladder reaches. Students also were allowed to take turns sitting in the fire truck and trying on a firefighter’s helmet.
First Baptist Church School students are participating in the annual fire prevention poster contest throughout October.
