BEEVILLE — Beeville’s Development Services Director Albert Vilches said this week that a company is looking to build another new hotel in the city.

The Yonder Inn Hotel will offer 81 guest rooms on property located north of The Reserve at Jones Road at the intersection of the U.S. Highway 181 Bypass and FM 351.

Vilches said the company has not yet taken out a building permit but he believes builders would like to start on the project by the middle of this month.

Vilches said plans are to build a three-story facility with 50,865 square feet of floor space. The fact that the plans call for a three-story building could require the city’s Board of Adjustment to approve a zoning ordinance variance.

That should be no problem, because the board granted a similar variance for the Hampton Inn on Hall Street.

The main concern in building a three-story facility is the ability of the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department to reach fires on the top floor of a three story facility.

That concern was solved when the city approved the purchase of the new, $1 million ladder truck.

Vilches said the $4.6 million hotel facility will have a pool, barbecue patio, a lounge with a bar and a breakfast area.

The property under consideration already is zoned for B-2 development, so there should be no need for a zone change at that location.
