The Progressive Study Club met at it’s regular time, Nov. 7 at Barth’s Restaurant. President Gretchen Dupnik called the meeting to order at 4 p.m. The pledge to the flag was led by Kathryn Farris and the collect by Nancy Allen. We welcomed Joline Wylie as a guest of Nita Williams. Afterwards, the roll was called and 32 members were present. Julie Schievelbein read the minutes and they were approved as read.

After a couple of announcements about the 2013 Relay for Life of Karnes County, which will be held at Karnes City High School Stadium on April 26-27, the treasurer read her report and it was filed for audit.

Members were reminded that our Christmas Party will be Dec. 7 at The Lodge and we should get our payment in as soon as possible.

The Scholarship Committee discussed the fact that we will be going to the schools soon to offer scholarships to graduating senior girls. The Progressive Study Club gives one or more scholarships each year to college bound girls.

Cheryl Bush, Vice President, introduced our speakers, Jan Anderson and JoEllen Schuenemann who spoke on Israel, Land of the Bible, Land of Faith...The Holy Land. The presentation was very interesting with the speakers talking about the different parts of The Holy Land that they had visited and the different guides they had to have as the Israeli’s could not go into the Palestinian Section and the Palestinians could not travel to the Israeli section. It was exciting to see the many pictures of Jesus’ birthplace and the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem where he most likely walked on the way to the cross.

After the presentation, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be Dec. 7, when we celebrate with our Christmas Party.
