I would like to compliment the Beeville Garden Club, which hosted the Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony (Nov. 11). I would like to go one step further: The veterans of the Korean War were not acknowledged as the other veterans were in standing. The Beeville paper did acknowledge Frank Benavides with his picture. I would like to acknowledge my husband, Robert Weed, who was sitting next to Mr. Benavides. Robert Weed served in the Korean War and is a recipient of the Purple Heart. As with most veterans, he does not speak often of being a veteran.
