Jennifer Ragle filed as a write-in candidate for Refugio mayor in the local election on May 9. She issued the following statement this week:

“I am seeking the position of Refugio mayor following recent issues involving the unnecessary burden placed on local businesses and beautification.

“I have a genuine concern for Refugio and all its residents, especially the youths. I am motivated and ambitious enough to make a difference.

“In addition, I welcome any and all comments, opinions and concerns on any and all issues. I guarantee that I will listen to everyone with an open heart and mind.

“I was reared in Refugio since birth and graduated from Refugio High School in 2001. In 2002, I moved to Chicago where I lived for just under two years. I have also lived in San Diego and Washington, D.C.

“Even after moving around the country and seeing different places across the country, Refugio is where I decided to move, make my home and rear my two children.

“I believe it is a fabulous city and has a potential that has not been reached. Refugio is safe, the people are fantastic and compassionate. I feel that I would make an excellent choice for mayor and could bring a new life and uniqueness to the city.

“Refugio is at a point where decisions must be cautiously and precisely regarded in order to bring a higher quality of life to the citizens.

“I have both the time and energy to drive Refugio forward. Please write in Jennifer Ragle as mayor and give me the chance to work for and with you to introduce a prosperous, bright future to the city.”
