It’s a safe bet that anyone looking at the century-old Bee County Courthouse has to wonder what’s in that dome or the basement? Both are accessible by circular stairs.Nestled in the dome is an ancient clockwork, long out of service. Spiral stairs descend to storage in the clerk’s office. Other court files are stored in the dome and in odd areas adjacent to some commissioners’ offices. The areas are not open to the public; even the county judge and commissioners frequent them only when necessary.
