With the Christmas holidays approaching quickly, several elves have been busy buying and wrapping gifts for needy families around Bee County.

Dr. Joseph Larakers and his staff at Agarita Clinic are seeing patients during the day and working as Santa’s helpers at night. They have adopted several families that they plan on helping with their Christmas list. Each family has children, so the group, led by nurse Mary Arredondo, plans to buy them necessities and also some toys to make it fun.

Arredondo says, “Last year, we were very successful with our project, and we were able to help several families. More importantly, we brought huge smiles to these little children, and that makes it all worthwhile.”

This year, they have begun collecting donations to help purchase all the things that are on the list for these families. Ana Casas, an eighth-grade student at Moreno Middle School, kicked off the drive by donating a generous amount. Ana, who has donated every year, said, “This is my most favorite time of the year, and I want other families to have as magical a Christmas as I have with my family.”

If you would like to donate to this project, contact the clinic at 358-9912.
