David Davis, a former Beeville resident and 1973 A.C. Jones High School graduate, recently received an outstanding honor, the Oil & Gas Financial Journal reported.

The Houston Chapter of the Business Market Association (BMA) recognized Davis, global sales manager for PennWell’s Offshore magazine, as the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient at the annual Lantern Awards of Texas gala on Nov. 29.

“The award is presented each year to longtime BMA members who have significantly contributed to the growth of the chapter and to the profession of business-to-business marketing,” the publication noted.

Davis said, “I was quite surprised when (the award was) announced, especially since they give these type of lifetime awards to folks who are usually in wheelchairs. I didn’t know that I was that old yet.

“PennWell (Offshore magazine & Oil & Gas Journal) has been a great company to work for over the years and I appreciate the fact that they have allowed me to travel the world and wine and dine some great clients these past 33 plus years.”

Davis, who majored in advertising and graduated from Texas State University, is the son of the late Eldo and Billie Rae Davis. He has resided in Houston since he began work there and he and his wife, Susan, have two grown daughters, Haley Davis Ivie and Melissa Davis.

“We are immensely proud of David,” said Mark Peters, vice president and group publisher for PennWell. “As an icon in this industry, he is a very deserving recipient of this award and an invaluable asset to our team.”

On a related video highlighting Davis’ achievement, he was recognized by peers for his dedication and tireless efforts for the organization, both in Houston and all over the world, as well as his outgoing, boisterous demeanor.
