SKIDMORE — The pressure defense and the fast-paced offense of the Skidmore-Tynan varsity boys basketball team overpowered the visiting Banquete Bulldogs on Tuesday night, 75-41.

The S-T boys took control right from the opening tip and led easily 21-6 after the first eight minutes. Banquete scored 22 points in the second quarter but still lost ground as the hosts poured in 25 markers. It was all Bobcats at 46-28 when the halftime buzzer sounded.

The pace slowed considerably over the final two periods, but the ’Cats put the game away for sure by limiting the Bulldogs to just two points in the third. The S-T boys hit for 13 points in the third and added 16 more in the fourth to capture an easy victory.

The win improves the Bobcats’ overall record to a fine 20-3 and they stand 6-0 in district play.

Eric Schumacher poured in 35 points to lead all scorers. Erasmo Huerta finished with 11, and brother Zeke Huerta followed closely with 10 in the win. Brandon East contributed seven tallies, while Ryan Scott and Brian Shaw helped out with four points apiece.

The Bobcats paid a visit to Taft on Friday night and will be in San Diego on Tuesday night to meet the Vaqueros.
