The Bobcats started fast and swarmed on defense, allowing the Greyhounds a measly five first quarter points. The S-T boys hit for 21 points to grab a comfortable 21-5 lead after the first period.
The ’Hounds hit for 12 second period points but fell even further behind as the ’Cats scratched for 15 more markers to go into halftime on top, 38-17.
The pace was back up to Bobcat speed in the third period as the S-T boys burned the nets for another 20 points. The Taft boys recorded 11 points to make the game a 58-28 tilt entering the final period.
The fourth quarter was much the same. The Bobcats posted 18 points over the final eight minutes while holding the Greyhounds at bay with just 12 markers.
Three Bobcats were in double figures in the win. Zeke Huerta led all-scorers with 23 points. Brother Erasmo Huerta recorded 17 tallies, and Eric Schumacher joined them with 13. John Hernandez hit for eight points while Brandon East recorded five, as did Ryan Scott and Aaron Hughes.
The Bobcats were in San Diego on Tuesday night this week and will host the Freer Buckaroos on Friday night.
