According to a Goliad County Sheriff's Office news release, Michael Pena, 41, of Lakewood was arrested Jan. 25 with two warrants charging him with first-degree felony aggravated sexual assault of a child.
The release stated that the GCSO received a call from Goliad ISD regarding an "outcry" made by a juvenile student. Goliad County deputies spoke with Goliad ISD personnel, the alleged victim and the mother of the alleged victim.
The alleged victim was sent for a forensic interview Jan. 28 at the Harbor, a children's alliance and advocacy center located in Port Lavaca. Warrants were obtained from Justice of the Peace Susan Moore, who set bond at $50,000 each for the two charges. Pena was arrested and taken into custody on Jan. 31.
Pena was released Jan. 31 after posting $100,000 bond.
According to a separate GCSO news release, Eleazar Luna, 50, of Goliad was arrested Jan. 25 on the charge of continuous sex abuse of a child under 14 years of age.
The release stated the alleged victim was a female under the age of 12. As a result of an outcry by the victim, a search warrant was drafted and signed by District Judge Jack Marr. The search warrant was executed Jan. 30 at a residence in Goliad. A number of items of significant evidence were located and collected.
Luna was arrested and placed in the Goliad County Jail. Bond was set at $50,000 by Justice of the Peace Steve Kennedy.
Luna was released on $50,000 bond Jan. 31.
