Ireland has what is likely the only place named Muckanaghederdauhaulia. The name reportedly means “pig marsh between saltwater firths.” I do not make this stuff up.

Researchers estimate that the average person will spend six years dreaming while asleep. Z-Z-Z-Z

At the outbreak of WWII, the U.S. Army 45th Infantry Division was using a swastika as its cloth shoulder patch. The symbol had been copied from designs of Native Americans but was quickly replaced as the Nazis and their use of swastikas gained notoriety.

Each year in the United States, about 500 people are hit by lightning strikes. Surprising to some is that only 10% of the victims suffer a fatal hit. However, approximately 30% of those surviving live the rest of their lives dealing with permanent injuries. These injuries include recurring dizziness, vision loss, hearing loss, nerve damage and extreme storm anxiety. A U.S. Park Ranger named Roy Sullivan was lightning-struck seven times over several decades. A South Carolina man named Melvin Roberts has been struck six times. Melvin said the most recent strike occurred when it was not even raining.

Readers beware: Phobatriva-phobia is the fear of trivia concerning phobias.

A recent survey has revealed that the “average” American female teen will possess seven pairs of jeans. I am guessing only two will fit.

The five boroughs of New York City are Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Richmond (Staten Island). Some natives claim they can identify most borough residents by their distinctive accents and phrasings. Forgeddabout it.

John F. Kennedy was the first of our U.S. presidents to be born in the 20th century.

It is a matter of record that George Washington (yes, that George Washington) was issued a pilot’s license. The permit was for piloting a hot air balloon. The first president to be issued a license to fly an airplane was Dwight Eisenhower. Well, you might consider practicing the proper pronunciation of Muckanaghederdauhaulia prior to visiting the place – and have a great week.
