The Trojans began regular season play on Tuesday night when they traveled to Orange Grove to tangle with the Bulldogs.
Front line pitchers Cameron Kremers and Clay Blackwell kept the Hornets in check over the first four frames. The visitors picked up one run in the third and added one more run in the fourth against the Trojans’ top two starters.
It was a little tougher late in the game as the Flour Bluff boys broke out the big sticks and plated six runs in the sixth, two runs in the seventh and seven runs in the eighth on their way to the 21-1 victory.
The Hornet pitching staff looked to be in mid-season form, allowing just three Beeville hits on the day. Kremers picked up one hit as did Marcus Gomez and Joey Granados. Daniel Amador scored the lone Trojan run, crossing the plate in the seventh inning.
