INGLESIDE — The offense took over and the pitching followed as the Lady Trojan varsity softball girls mauled the Lady Mustangs 15-0 in four innings on Tuesday night.

The Lady Trojans struck early and often as a grand slam off the bat of Theresa Amador in the top of the first helped put up six runs for the Beeville girls. RBI singles by Amanda Gonzales and Andrea Briseno brought in the other two Beeville runs in the first.

The Lady Trojans plated two more runs in the second with Gonzales picking up another RBI and five runs in the third for a 12-0 lead. The Beeville girls finished the game under the 15-run rule, with a two-run uprising in the top of the fourth to earn the 15-0 victory.

Amador also shined in the circle for the Lady Trojans, pitching the shutout and allowing just one hit on the night and striking out five Mustangs. The Lady Trojan defense played well in the error-free contest.

The Lady Trojans pounded out 17 base hits against Ingleside. Eddika Ortega, Briseno and Gonzales each contributed three hits in the win. Rebecca De Los Santos, Alexis Olivarez and Amador all had two hits. Lynn Puente and Brianna Gobel also contributed base knocks in the victory. Gonzales and Amador each finished the evening with four RBIs.

“We scored plenty of runs, but I was more encouraged by our pitching and defense. It is a good sign when you do not make errors,” said head coach Jose Flores.

“We will look to continue to get better as we head to the CC Mira’s tournament this weekend.”

Tuesday night will usher in District 30-4A play as the Gregory-Portland Ladycats come to Beeville.
