SAN ANTONIO – The Trojan junior varsity soccer team met the Harlandale Indians on Tuesday night and the home team captured an 8-0 win.

The final score was not really a clear indication of how the Trojans played, however, according to coach Joshua Blake.

“We went into the game with only two strikers and we had to play strong defense in hoping to shut down a good Harlandale team. All the kids that played played their hearts out in the losing effort,” said Blake.

Beeville goalkeeper Jared Cisneros also played well and drew the praise of the Harlandale coach who mentioned “he is one heck of keeper.”

Cisneros was busy all night as he recorded 27 saves for the match and forced the Indians to kick about 40 shots over the two halves to get their eight goals.

“I am proud of the way my guys played and we are working to start a new winning streak against Floresville at home (Friday at 4 p.m. on the practice fields). We are looking to get them back after they beat us earlier this year at the beginning of district play,” Blake said.

In the varsity match, the district front-running Indians were way too powerful for the young Trojans.

“We had excellent runs on the other team, and shots on goal; but were not able to make it show up on the scoreboard,” said head coach Taliesin McCall.

The varsity Trojans dropped a 10-0 match to the Harlandale boys.
