The theme of this year’s Lenten service series is “Beneath the Cross of Jesus.” Christians live their lives beneath the cross of Jesus, beneath God’s manifold love and grace that reaches out even from Calvary. Based on the hymn “Beneath the cross of Jesus,” this series explores what it means to abide at the foot of the cross, to cling to the rock of humankind’s salvation, to dwell in the house of the Lord, and to confess sins and receive God’s forgiveness.
Other services will be held during Holy Week on March 28 and March 29.
The offerings received at the joint Lenten services will be designated for the offering received at the 2013 assembly of the Southwestern Texas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The offering from congregations at the synod assembly, which will be held May 4 and 5 in Kerrville, will support Cross Trails Ministry.
Cross Trails Ministry is a year-round camp and retreat ministry owned by the congregations of the Southwestern Texas Synod of the ELCA. Two sites are at the heart of this ministry: Lutheran Camp Chrysalis in Kerrville and Ebert Ranch Camp in Harper. Off-site events and opportunities are also offered through the year.
