Zamzow, Von Dohlen win gold at 30-2A track and field meet

GOLIAD – Goliad's Avery Zamzow and John Von Dohlen captured gold medals in the first day of the District 30-2A track and field meet at Tiger Stadium on Monday.

Zamzow won the girls long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 3 inches and Von Dohlen captured the 3,200-meter run title in a time of 10 minutes, 28 seconds.

The 3,200 and all field events and running preliminaries were held Monday. The meet will resume Wednesday at noon with the running finals.

Other medal winners for the Tigers on Monday were Isaiah Fair, who was second in the long jump with a mark of 21-4, and Dalton Sturm, who was runner-up in the high jump by clearing 6 feet.

Zamzow also finished second in the high jump (5-2) while Carlee Howard was runner-up in the pole vault (8-6) and Courtnee Priour was third in the triple jump (34-10 1/4).
