The JV contest went to the home team 9-7 while the varsity contest was a four-inning affair with the Moody girls blasting Beeville 15-0.
The JV contest had the Beevile girls score first with a two-run first inning. Moody got one run in the first but then scored five runs in the second and another three runs in the third to race out to a 9-2 advantage.
The Beeville ladies took advantage of a few walks and some good hitting in the top of the fourth to climb back into the contest by scoring five big runs. That made it a 9-7 final as the time limit on the JV game expired.
“The ladies finished strong, scoring five runs in the fourth, giving us some renewed momentum to finish on a high note,” said JV coach Ophelia De Los Santos.
The Beeville girls outhit Moody with Sierra Ruiz, Kristen Almeida, Samantha Valencia, Skylar Nelson and Patsy Longoria all getting base hits for Beeville. Valencia’s and Longoria’s hits were two-baggers.
Ruiz and Almeida both scored twice, while Longoria, Kymberly Wolfe and Merina Robertson all crossed the plate once in the loss.
In the varsity game, the Lady Trojans ran into trouble early and could not quiet the Moody bats.
It was 5-0 after one inning and the Moody girls added another four runs in the bottom of the second. Five more runs came across in the third to complete the rout.
Nissi Barrientes had the lone hit for the Beeville girls.
“We’ll use this loss as inspiration for the rest of the season,” said head coach Adolofo Dominguez.
The Lady Trojans played the Ray Lady Texans on Friday in Corpus Christi and will host the Gregory-Portland Ladycats on Tuesday evening.
