Moody scored only one run in the bottom of the first but scorched the Beeville varsity for nine runs in the bottom of the second. Three more runs came across in the Moody third to make it a 13-0 ball game at the end of three innings.
The Beeville boys scored five runs in their half of the fifth to trail 13-5 going into the bottom of the sixth. Moody got the two runs they needed to end the game on the 10-run rule and it was a 15-5 victory for the state’s top-ranked 4A baseball club.
Ted Christensen roped a double for the only extra-base hit by the Beeville Trojans. Eric Soza started on the mound for Beeville and took the loss.
The Beeville nine were back in Corpus Christi on Friday afternoon for a 5:30 p.m. contest against Ray. The Trojans will be back in Joe Hunter Field on Tuesday night to host the Gregory-Portland Wildcats. The first pitch of that game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
