At its regular meeting May 9, BISD trustees accepted a $350,000 bid from Hamco Realty, a Fort Worth real estate developer.
BISD attorneys currently are working with Hamco lawyers to executive the contract, according to BISD Superintendent Dr. Sue Thomas.
Long considered a district white elephant, the building was sold earlier this year to a company representing Bill Miller Barbecue, but the deal fell through, Thomas says, when the buyer wanted to change the terms of the contract.
“I’m not sure what Hamco is planning to do with the building,” Thomas says. “They wanted the land.”
A winter storm did $14,000 in damage to the building’s roof, which BISD feared it would have to repair before any buyer was interested.
Hamco was the only company to submit a bid during the last round of bidding.
