Bee County deputies have arrested a 38-year-old Woodsboro man on multiple counts of indecency with a child.

Deputy Capt. Dan Caddell said Wednesday morning that the suspect, Steven Ray Martin, turned himself in at the Bee County Sheriff’s Office that morning.

Caddell took the suspect into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant issued by Justice of the Peace David B. Garza.

Caddell said the formal charge was indecency with a child, sexual contact.

The charge is a second degree felony. If Martin is convicted of the offense, he could be sentenced to a term of from two to 20 years in prison and a fine of as much as $10,000 on each count.

Caddell said he and Texas Department of Public Safety investigator Sgt. Drew Pilkington conducted the investigation.

The deputy said he and Pilkington have been looking into allegations that Martin had sexual contact with a girl under the age of 17 between 2007 and 2009 with the incidents taking place in Bee, Refugio and Goliad counties.

Caddell said he was unable to release much information on the case at this time because Martin has not yet been indicted and because he and Pilkington are still investigating.

No bond had been set on the charges as of press time Wednesday.

I think this is the same guy that a father caught coming out of his daughters window one early morning when the father was on his way to work around 5:30, the father chased him but he got away, well for a while...
