Last week, guests from Corpus Christi came in and asked about the foxes that reside in the park. It had been about a year since their last visit, but the memory was fresh in their minds.

During their previous visit, father and son had walked along the Aranama nature trail and discovered they weren’t alone. Through the wooded shadows, they saw movement. They stopped and watched as two grey foxes emerged from the woods onto the sandy path. Then four little ones followed behind. Oblivious to human presence, the pups began to play and pounce in the middle of the path.

When the father and son duo retold their experience that day, they could barely contain their excitement. They conveyed their story of standing silently watching, enjoying a rare moment in nature. I was excited, too. I only hoped I’d get a chance to see the foxes.

See the rest of the story in this week's Advance-Guard.
