The Beeville Garden Club will hold its annual botanical sale on Saturday.

The sale begins at 9 a.m. at 178 Fairway Ridge. The public is invited.

“We have a wide variety of plants on sale this year,” said Gwen DeWitt, a member of the Garden Club. “We’ll also be selling all kinds of water plants, such as bromelliads, water lilies, water irises.”

The sale will include a wide variety of drought resistant plants, as well as potted oak trees.

The club also will raffle off original watercolor art by the late Elizabeth Schulz.

The club will also set up its popular “cafe,” which will offer pastries, coffee, hot tea soda, water and other refreshments.

As it did last year, the club will give away free compost bins every hour.

“And in celebration of Earth Day, we have partnered with H-E-B food stores and will be giving away 400 cloth shopping bags,” DeWitt said.

Thanks to the Coastal Bend Council of Governments, the club also will give away pencils and rulers made out of recycled money, denim and phone books and newspaper.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the club’s many beautification projects around the county, DeWitt said.

“We spend the money on the courthouse grounds and other projects we do to beautify Bee County,” she said.

The Garden Club, in association with the Bee Master Gardeners, maintain the rose garden and other outdoor plants at the courthouse.
