A Proclamation of the City of Beeville proclaiming Oct. 3, 2008, as “Breast Cancer Awareness Day” within the City of Beeville

Whereas, the Junior Service League of BEeville is organizing a fundraiser for women of Beeville who have difficulty financially to afford a mammogram; and

Whereas, it is estimated that 182,460 cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to occur among women in the United States in the year 2008, with an estimated 40,480 deaths in that same period of time, and

Whereas, the Junior Service League of Beeville is encouraging supporters to participate on this day, Oct. 3, 2008, by wearing the shirts to bring awareness and to raise funds for local women to have mammograms and help prevent more breast cancer deaths;

Now, Therefore, pursuant to the powers vested in me as Mayor of the City of Beeville, I do hereby proclaim Oct. 3, 2008, as “Breast Cancer Awareness Day” in Beeville, Texas, and encourage all citizens to make the community aware of this much deserved service.

In Witness Whereas, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Beeville, Texas to be affixed this the 3rd day of October, 2008.
