DA can’t?

I am just totally shocked at our District Attorney’s use of the word “can’t”! “I can’t do my job...I can’t do this...I can’t do that!” I have no doubt in my mind that she did not raise her children to even use such a word.

And her use of ‘fear tactics’ to scare the community of Bee County is just disappointing to say the least.

What she actually did was put a “smile” on every criminal in Bee County because now they believe that they have been empowered to commit any crime they want because all they will get is a good “plea bargain!” That was just irresponsible in my mind but I doubt that it is true! I believe that she will put every criminal in jail if she gets the opportunity because that is what she expects of herself.

These are tough economic times. It doesn’t take an extremely smart person to understand what is going on in our economy. Businesses right here in Bee County are closing down, people are losing their jobs all over the United States and everyone has cut budgets down to the bare bone.

Bee County is no exception and it is not going to get any better for at least two to three more years.

The County Judge and his court have a tough row to hoe this coming budget year. They essentially have two choices: raise taxes and face the wrath of the tax paying voters or get tough with elected officials and department heads and say “we have to cut back on expenses in order for everyone to survive.”

I personally am for cutting back on expenses. As a taxpayer I am just tired of having my taxes raised to support 60-, 70-, or 80-thousand dollar a year jobs for someone else.

I say this with humor but it is essentially the truth: it’s time for all elected officials and department heads to put on their big boy pants or big girl panties and deal with the fact that the County will be bankrupt in just a few years if they “can’t” do their job with what they have. It’s reality! And the use of ‘fear mongering’ and ‘I can’t do my job without more money’ is only adding fuel to the already heated fire.

I call on our District Attorney and all involved to knock this off and work together because in just a few years we won’t have a county to worry about if we don’t.

Amazing comment. Having faced the same challenges as Mrs. Warner would certainly lend credibility to your statement. However, no such indications are posted. Better yet, you put on your “big boy” pants and tell us all in detail you would stem the tide. You send the wrong message to the criminal element, the people are giving up. I disagree.

I have a simple question for you. You are the dam keeper, a torrent of rain is endangering integrity of your responsibility. Would you open a relief gate and seek assistance in strengthening the dam, or sit in your office neglecting those who have entrusted you with their safety?

To Mrs. Warner and all her staff:

I whole heartedly thank your dedication, tireless efforts and long uncompensated hours .
