The prospective groom is the grandson of former Beeville residents Rose and Ernest Davis of San Antonio and the late Elizabeth and Ernest Szuminski. He is a graduate of Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio and earned a degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from MIT, where he was a member of the United States Air Force ROTC and Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He earned an MBA from Stanford University and was an officer in the USAF and USAF reserves until 2012. He played professional baseball, pitching in both the minor and major leagues, for the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres, and is currently an associate with Spear Street Capital, a real estate investment fund, in San Francisco.
The bride-elect graduated from Marin Academy High School in San Rafael. She earned a degree in communications from the University of California, Davis, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She went on to earn a degree as a pediatric nurse practitioner from Yale School of Nursing and is currently a nurse practitioner in pediatric oncology at the Children’s Hospital & Research Center in Oakland, Calif.
The couple are planning their June wedding at a winery in California’s Sonoma Valley.
Whitney Selfridge, sister of the bride, hosted an engagement party for the couple on Jan. 25. Fifty guests celebrated with the couple, enjoying cocktails and appetizers at Dixie in San Francisco.
