The victim was identified as Christopher Kelley. He was in a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe headed east when his vehicle apparently veered into the path of a westbound 2001 International commercial truck at about 9 p.m.
The impact caused the International truck to overturn. Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene. His 30-year-old female passenger and the 39-year-old male driving the commercial vehicle were both taken to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi.
The female passenger of the Hyundai was reported to be seriously injured, but the truck driver’s injuries were not considered serious.
According to the report prepared by Highway Patrol Trooper Marvin Baker of the DPS office in Beeville, weather conditions were clear and dry.
All three persons involved in the accident were wearing seat belts.
