BEEVILLE – What Coastal Bend College terms a “steady stream” of voters cast their ballots on the first day of early voting for the CBC trustee election.

The 135 votes cast Monday do not include absentee ballots that have been mailed. As of Wednesday morning, the in-person early vote count had increased to 267.

“Additional handicapped parking spots have been set up in front of the Beasley (Administration) Building to accommodate voters,” says CBC marketing director Monica Cruz.

The May 10 election has taken on more importance than usual because the three trustee races are contested.

Jeff Massengill, former CBC instructor, is hoping to unseat board President Paul Jaure. Tiele Dockens, an accounting student, is trying to unseat Trustee Martha Warner. Jones High School Principal DeeDee Bernal is running against Trustee Louise Hall.
