The public is invited to attend a celebration to officially open Dugat Gardens, located at 715 N. St. Mary’s St., at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 4.

In 2009, members and friends of First Christian Church began creating Dugat Gardens as a quiet green space for the public to sit, learn, meditate and enjoy. The garden faces Washington Street and is accessed only from First Christian Church parking lot at 715 N. St. Mary’s St.

Dugat Gardens is dedicated in honor and memory of the Byron and Ruth Dugat family, longtime members of the Beeville community and First Christian Church. Visitors are invited to stroll the pathway, stop along the way and enjoy the peaceful garden from dawn to dusk daily.

Following a brief ceremony of sharing and singing, refreshments will be served in the church fellowship hall. For more information, contact Rev. Geraldine Huckman at 358-3227.
