Levi Draper called to his classmates, “Come here and look at what I found. It’s a turtle!” It was a turtle – a 150-pound loggerhead turtle. It was stuck down between the rocks and could not get out.
The students applied their knowledge of physics and math and gradually (with much struggling) worked the turtle out of his death trap.
The students cheered when the turtle swam out to sea once again.
It is believed that the turtle had come in on high tide and then was trapped when the tide went out.
