Can’t vote

Today as I went to City Hall to cast my ballot for early elections, I was informed that I could not vote. “Why not?” I asked. I was told it was because I lived in Capehart subdivision.

Every month, I receive and pay my water and gas bill to the city, yet I can’t vote in a city election. There are hundreds of potential voters whose voices will never be heard because we can’t even vote in a city we give our hard-earned money to each month for garbage, sewage, water, etc. So, why can’t we vote in city elections?

Thank you. I guess not everyone’s vote matters in Beeville.

Editor’s note: Capehart subdivision has not been annexed by the city of Beeville, so residents there cannot vote in city elections.
