Through the personal relationship the Father had with His Son, He established Christ as the treasury of His love. Personally knowing the depths of this relationship, Jesus explained and taught His disciples, as a fellowship and individually, of the need for this type of relationship. He prayed for them to have the kind of relationship He and His Father had, with Himself and with each other.
Jesus knew God’s eternal will and lived it before His disciples. As the disciples entered into a true relationship with Him, He taught them that the world would see it and believe that God had sent Him. The life of today’s local church is as vital to world redemption and true evangelism as it was then. Evangelism is a natural product of that relationship.
To be effective in life and evangelism, the church must practice what Christ commanded. Those living in an obedient love relationship with Him will naturally share the gospel with conviction and Holy Spirit power.
Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” God’s silence is His full, complete, and absolute love at rest, in Christ. His love dwells in the soul of Christ and is fixed there forever. He is fully satisfied with this love and expresses His joy and delight with the inward affection of the heart and the external demonstration of singing and praise.
Jesus is the mediator by which God conveys His love to man and through which the believer and the church have access to the Father. God wills His love to His Son and the people of His Son’s kingdom, that He may rest in them, with singing.
