Lutherans around the United States have committed to celebrate a Sunday on September (rescheduled for Sept. 21) as “God’s Work, Our Hands” Sunday, a day to unite and take on a service project that benefits a community organization trying to benefit others.
Some projects selected benefit hundreds, like food drives. Faith Lutheran has chosen for a second successive year to conduct a barbecue chicken dinner benefit for the Bee County Habitat for Humanity Affiliate, which is committed to building a new home for a Bee County family in the summer of 2015. This home will require sweat equity from the family and will provide a no-interest loan to the selected family. With no interest, payments will be attainable.
The barbecue dinner will be served in the fellowship hall at 1500 East FM 251 or by drive through and will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It will be a complete meal including dessert. Dine-in diners will also get a choice of iced tea, lemonade or water. The meals are $7.50 each, and tickets are available by calling 361-362-3443, contacting a Habitat board member, or one of several community churches.
