The board scheduled the hearing when it met on Wednesday, Aug. 6. Anyone who has anything to say about a proposed tax rate is urged to be at the Aug. 27 session.
The board also heard a brief financial report during the meeting and voted to elect Jim Crumrine as its chairman and Bill Stockton as its vice chairman.
The board indicated in a resolution that it would like to annex certain new areas of the city to comply with its official taxation boundaries.
That annexation recently was recommended by former interim City Manager Marvin Townsend.
Townsend currently is contracted with the city to study its water development alternatives. During the meeting, Townsend outlined the recommendations he had provided for the City Council last month.
