BALL (Be Active, Live Longer) was treated to a special program on May 8 at First United Methodist Church. John West, local attorney, this past March visited Homer, Alaska, where the American bald eagles come to feast on fish.

His program included pictures of the area of Homer as well as the feeding ground. One lady for the past 30 years has had a license to feed the eagles. Her license expired this year at her death. West noted that there are three pairs of permanent resident bald eagles in Texas.

Eagles are known to reuse a nest by adding more limbs, making the nest as heavy as one ton.

Julia Solomon presented the door prize to Penny Ladd.

The next meeting will be held on Friday, June 5. Wesley Nurse Marlo Sandoval will give the program on “Mastery of Memory.”
