Mrs. Valderrama was born on Oct. 7, 1935, in Taft to Rodrigo and Eufemia (Hernandez) Castillo. She was a lifelong resident of Taft and retired from Taft ISD where she worked as a custodian, crossing guard and security for football games.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rodrigo and Eufemia Castillo and son Roman Valderrama.
Survivors include her husband, Jesus “Chuy” Valderrama; sons, Rene (Terry) Valderrama and Roger Valderrama, all of Taft; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held, 2 to 9 p.m., Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton. A rosary was recited the same evening, 7 p.m., at the funeral home. The funeral mass was celebrated Tuesday, 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, Taft, with Father Francisco Lopez as celebrant. Burial will be private.
Pallbearers were Juan Castillo, Paul Perez, Rene Valderrama, Jr., Lupe Valdez, Roman Martinez, Agapito Carrera and Benny Valdez.
