GOLIAD – Three Goliad residents, including a former mayor and city councilwoman, filed for the Nov. 4 special city council election before Thursday's 5 p.m. deadline.

Shirley A. Young, 74, served as Goliad mayor (1982-88) and on city council (1976-1982). The other two candidates will be Luis Rodriguez, 61, and Mary Jacob Burns, 63.

The two vacancies were created when Buddy Zavesky and Lionel Garcia resigned in July.

The two seats will be up for re-election in May.
