Rod Rothlisberger, 57, of Sinton, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. 

Mr. Rothlisberger was born March 4, 1957, in Refugio to Edwin Ray and Ada Irene Rothlisberger.  On Sept. 2, 1978, he married Sharon Diane Sorensen.

He was employed at Flint Hills Resources for the past 33 years. His most recent job title was Refinery Shift Manager, but he held titles of Laboratory Technician, Safety Technician and Production Leader previously.

He also was a public servant, dedicating 25 years of service to the Odem and Sinton Volunteer Fire Departments and their communities. He served as an elected official on the Sinton City Council for three years, served as mayor for two years and mayor pro tem for one year. He started girls softball in the Sinton community in 1995 and mentored many girls over the last several years.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Ada Irene Rothlisberger; his daughter, Stephanie Nicole Rothlisberger; and brother-in-law, Gary Sorensen.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon D. Rothlisberger of Sinton; his daughters, Ashley (Matt) Harrington of Sinton and Casey Rothlisberger of Portland; his father, Edwin (Gale) Rothlisberger of Odem; sister, Pam (David) Metting of Odem; brother, Allen Rothlisberger of Odem; in-laws, George and Shirley Sorensen; brothers-in-law, Paul (Cindy) Sorensen and Brian Sorensen; sister-in-law, Cynthia Sorensen; six nieces and two nephews.

Visitation began at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton. The family received guests from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening

The funeral service was conducted there at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Odem.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Circles of Care Foster Agency, 5333 Everhart Suite 150B Corpus Christi, Texas 78411. 

Arrangements and care were entrusted to Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton.
