On Tuesday May 12, 2009 the Longhorn 4-H club met in the courthouse at 7 p.m. for its monthly meeting.

Tyrell Umphres called the meeting to order and conducted his final meeting for us before turning the meeting over to the newly elected President. Umphres is a senior and will be graduating in a few weeks. We wish him the best of luck and the club will miss all of his fine leadership skills.

It was also brought to our attention that our club Managers, Mrs. Nanci Umphres will celebrate a birthday on Mon, May 18th and Mr. Rusty Umphres will celebrate his on Friday May 21st. We wish them both very Happy Birthdays.

New officers were elected: they are President----Byron Oxford, Vice-President---Boone Umphres, Secretary-------Mathew Hyde, Treasurer-----Brent Umphres, Reporter----Cody Oxford, Parliamentarian------ Kyle Otto, and our 2 County Delegates are Katie Valverde and Lisa Harrod.

Other business matters discussed were the Leadership lab to be held this summer and the new rule change stating that you must clean out your pen after the stock show with in two weeks after the show (in conjunction with turning in your Thank you notes for your buyers) in order to receive your prize money check. Also discussed was the upcoming Auction at the Live Oak County Livestock auction to benefit Driscoll children’s Hospital.4-H members are asked to donate their time and to donate bake goods or items for auction.

Reminder, our club meets the second Tuesday of every month (including the summer months) at the county courtroom in the courthouse. We would love to have new members to join our club. If you are interested in becoming involved in 4-H, please come to one of our meeting and we will help you to get started.
