U.S. Rep. Rubén Hinojosa was guest speaker at a Memorial Day ceremony at Beeville Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday.

Here is his address:

“Good morning. I want to thank local VFW Post 9170 for inviting me here this Memorial Day and allowing me to participate in this hallowed ceremony.

It is an honor to be here at Beeville Memorial Park Cemetery. Today we remember the men and women who selflessly made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation.

Memorial Day is a day of reflection and remembrance.

As a nation, we recognize our brave soldiers as stewards of democracy and freedom; upholding the ideals of loyalty, honor and courage.

We continue to be engaged in hostilities, and young men and women remain in harm’s way while wearing the uniform of the nation.

Let us continue to support our courageous troops currently serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and around the globe, who are the veterans of tomorrow.

We are resolved in saying that every person that returns from war is entitled to all the care and distinction that this nation can bestow.

I want to assure you that I will continue to work diligently to ensure these promises to our veterans and their families are kept.

So let us pay tribute to our soldiers this Memorial Day and honor them for their selfless, dedicated service to this nation.

Thank you and may God bless America.”
