Again, our congratulations to all the students, especially high school seniors who have earned the right to cross the stage and receive their diplomas.
We especially want to say how much we admire those who worked hard and achieved special honors and awards in recent ceremonies like the one held Monday night at the A.C. Jones High School auditorium, recognizing the honor grads and those who received scholarships to attend universities and colleges across Texas and the U.S. next fall.
Also, we commend seniors Jordan Gonzales of A.C. Jones High and Sammie Jo Constante of Pettus High School, who never missed a day of school. To achieve that for one year alone is quite an achievement, but to do so for 12 or 13 years is an extremely rare feat. Again, congratulations to you and your families.
Another group which always deserves a tremendous word of thanks is those who host Project Graduation. This year, plans were to bus the JHS seniors after graduation to the High 5 Ranch, where they were to be entertained from about 11 a.m. to 4 a.m.
The Go Texan cooks and Chili’s were providing a variety of meals, a large projector screen was to show movies and other offerings were to include inflatable games, a volleyball tournament, swimming and horseshoes. All of this is done to provide safe activities for the seniors, to keep them away from the deadly combination of alcohol and driving late at night. We appreciate the efforts of Julie Jones and the other parents and sponsors of Project Graduation ’09.
Best of luck to all of you Bee County grads in the future.
