NOTE: This story has been updated. Read the most recent information here.

A Skidmore man who city police said probably was in his 60s was killed about 2 o’clock Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident in the 1500 block of North Washington Street.

Police at the scene said the victim, Antonio Nuncio of Skidmore, was pulling out of the 100 block of West Inez Street and crossing Washington Street going east in a late-model Ford Escape SUV when he was struck in the driver’s side door by a southbound, late-model Dodge Ram 2500 four-door pickup truck.

EMS personnel and police said the victim probably died instantly.

The front end of the pickup crashed through the door of the smaller vehicle by several inches.

The victim’s granddaughter, identified as Diana Torres of Skidmore, reportedly was riding in the passenger seat in front of the SUV. She was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville for treatment by EMS personnel from Angel Care Ambulance Service.

The driver of the pickup was said to have lacerations to his right hand where it struck the windshield of the truck at the time of the impact. He also was taken to the local hospital by ambulance.

Police at the scene had not yet released the name of the driver of the pickup or the woman in the vehicle with him.

One officer said a witness had told investigators that it appeared the truck was traveling at an unsafe speed at the time of the impact.

Nuncio was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace David B. Garza. The body was taken to the Treviño Funeral Home.

Police said the accident still was under investigation.

I have gone by beeville most of my adult life on the way to Port A. I read this story and all the comments. first I fell asleep driving once and got a ticket at the hospital. it was for traveling to fast on a curve. It was DPS and I said you must be from Beeville and of course he was. It is clear both sides were wrong. The boy was speeding but the gentleman that died pulled out in front of him. Irregardless of speed the boy had right of way. the gentleman that died might not have had he stopped looked and noted the speed at which the truck was traveling. what that boy said or did is all up for grabs. No matter what you say or do will not change fact. I already feel the arrows from Beeville but I learned years ago stay away from that town and rightly so. Reading the comments are a good reminder

Thank you Beeville for your thoughts, prayers and concern for this devasting incident. Tony was a loving father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was born and raised in Houston Texas. He was a father to eight children, and also raised five stepchildren and had numerous grandchildren whom loved him immensly. and will miss him all the days of thier lives. He also served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked hard all the days of his life and retired from the U. S. Post Office, and loved to play golf. He was a good decent man, and a truly very special person. He will "truly" be missed. This is a devasting incident to both families. The driver of the truck will have to live with this all his life and Tony's family will have to live without their father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Your thoughts, prayers and concerns are comforting. May God's Will Be Done.

Bless Beeville.

I'm really saddened by all the comments being made. I'm a former resident of beeville and know the victim's family. I don't believe they would approve of all the negative comments. Yes they are sad and upset, yes they want justice served but they aren't the type of people to bad mouth anyone. The young man did go to the hospital and apologize to family for what he did. And I understand the politics of my hometown and I know things don't always get done correctly. But I also understand that whether this young man is punished to the full extent of the law (which I do beleive he should be) he will have to live the rest of his life knowing that at 18 on the day of his High School graduation he kill a man.

The SUV was coming from a side steet with a STOP SIGN!!! Kyle in his pick up had the right of way and should have been clearly seen traveling on the "main road". The SUV pulled out in front of him~

Just like the rest of the comments I've seen posted here, I've instantly assumed the "kid" was completely at fault. Who was turning and from what direction? If the Ford SUV was coming off a side street or private driveway, it wouldn't matter how fast the traffic was going, he'd still have to "yield." Heartless as it sounds, while we're looking for the bad guy in this, remember the main road has right-of-way!

After knowing this guy for a long time, I know how he can behave, and it isn't what most people feeling sorry for him would expect... I feel for this man's family and I pray that this town's "JUSTICE" (the B.P.D. and S.O.)will have a change of view after Daddy get a talking to. Ha, what am I saying that won't happen... Oh well, God will see to it that this is taken care of properly!

Accident smackadent......when you are speeding on the streets and passing vehicles then you are asking for trouble whether it be a ticket or a wreck. In this case it was a wreck and the loss of a life to a very wonderful man...not even a ticket yet. Anyone else in this town would have been given a ticket right then and there or at the hospital...I know this for a fact cause when my mother was in a wreck that wasn't even her fault cause she was rear-ended by an 18 wheeler but the DPS trooper still went to the hospital and gave her a ticket for not having her seatbelt on correctly. They have talked SO much about click it or ticket and yet here is an officers son and his passenger not wearing their seatbelts and they dont even get a ticket for that let alone failure to maintain a safe speed. Oh I am sure with enough public outcry this driver will receive some form of "punishment" but it will not be anywhere near the correct type of punishment for involuntary manslaughter and it will be because of who he is related to. He might get a few tickets which I am sure Daddy will "take care of" and MAYBE some community service or probation which somehow wont get done but will be reported as being done and then off the college or somewhere out of Beeville to party and continue on with his life. It is sad that all he asked about after the accident was how was his truck. I know anyone who has an ounce of remorse would not have been out that same night whether their family supposedly pushed them to do it. I hope with enough public outcry this is treated property but I am not holding my breath. I have seen to much corruption on the part of both the BPD and the SO and I seriously doubt that it is going to change anytime soon.

THIS WAS INDEED A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. NOBODY WANTS THIS TO HAPEN TO ANYBODY. WHY IS IT THAT WHEN SOMETHING HAPPENS ITS THE S.O. OR BPD FAULT OR THAT THERE ARE RUMORS THAT ITS GOING TO GET COVERD UP. A FEW MONTHS AGO THERE WAS A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT WHERE A MAN DIED DUE TO HIS SON DRINKING AND DRIVING. NEWSPAPER STATED THAT DPS REPORTS THAT THE DRIVER WAS INTOXICATED. NOW THAT INDIVIDUAL IS STILL OUT DRINKING AND GOING TO BARS WHEN IN FACT THAT HE WAS THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. I DONT HEAR ANYBODY RAGGING ON THE DPS. YOU KNOW WHY HE IS NOT IN JAIL BECAUSE PEOPLE DONT UNDERSTAND THAT IT TAKES TIME. ITS SAD BUT IT DOES. INDIVIDUALS THAT SAY BPD OR S.O IS A JOKE I DONT SEE THEM APPLYING TO TAKE THE SO CALLED BADD OFFICERS JOBS. ASK THIS QUESTION? SAY IT WAS YOUR CHILD WHO DID THIS AND YOUR NOT EMPLOYED WITH S.O. OF BPD, WOULD YOU STILL BE WRITING ABOUT THE HORRIBLE ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT WAS REMEMBER ITS YOUR CHILD, AND EXPLOIT HIM ALL OVER THE PAPER. MAYBE YOU WOULD SAY KNOW THE BASTARD MESSED UP SEND HIM TO JAIL. I DO FEEL FOR THE FAMILY AND THE INDIVIDUALS THAT WERE INVOLVED BUT BPD OR S.O. HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE ACCIDENT. FOR THE SMART PERSON THAT SAID THERE IS A PROTOCAL THAT OFFICERS HAVE TO DO WHEN THIS HAPPENS THEN YOU SHOULD KNOW IT TAKES TIME. MAYBE YOU SHOULD RUN FOR SHERIFF OF CHIEF SINCE YOU KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT IT.

THe 18 year old responsible for the death in fridays accident name is Kyle Gisler, and his dad is a S.O. deputy. If this had been anyone without ties to either BPD, or the S.O. they would've been probably arrested, and held pending an investigation!! Did they do a breathilizer on him, and check his blood as well??? There is a standard of procedures that happens after an accident involving a death!I wonder how much of it was'nt done due to preferential treatment???

And why was'nt his name released, anyone elses name would've been all over the news.!!!!!

And as far as BPD is concerned, they are a joke, but after all these years, even when the FBI was looking into all the BPD brutality cases filed against them, nothing's been done to correct them?

To the family who lost the Grandfather, my prayers go out to you.

I knew Tony and several of his family members. I cannot express how deeply saddened I am to hear of this tragedy. My deepest and most sincere condolences to the family.

Son of a law enforcement officer or not the kid should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law for what he has done. Tony and his family deserve justice. I pray that they get it.

Yeah an 18 year old kid still has to have others speak for him. Wow, I know for a fact that all he asked afterwards was simply "how"s my truck". Yeah. He also had a friend with him or so I hear. Either way someone died and a kid is probably going to walk away because of a certain family member on the BPD...

i doubt that justice will be served because that would require the BPD to do their job, which we all know, they can't handle. karma comes back two folds, that's what i'll be praying for

it doesn't matter that he was in your family, and no this was not an accident. the boy was racing, and killed some ones grandfather, father, friend and more. He needs to sit in prison to reflect his decisions. and if the boys father is in fact employed at the sheriff's office then the boy should have known better. if i got sent to prison for having drugs in my possecion then he should do time for killing some one. when you are in an accident your speed is clocked on impact.

The "kid" that was in that accident is my nephew and he is completely devastated by this accident. He did not want to walk at graduation but we (his family) convinced him to since he had worked so hard to graduate. It was not an easy decision but one we thought was right at the time. The accident on Friday was simply that - an accident. The Beeville PD is investigating everything and the facts will come out one way or the other. Please remember, he is just a kid and we are mourning with the family that lost their father / grandfather.

Emotionally I don't know how this kid "walked" with his graduating class;however I don't think that he shouldn't have been allowed to walk. Too soon to make that kind of judgment call. I do hope they make a thorough investigation and not let any connections this kid might have weigh on any consequences that he might merit. Everything seems to point to him driving WAY TOO FAST!!! What a shame that an innocent man running an errand had to die.

I know the kid driving the truck has just missed hitting me and my kids while driving around town twice. I know accidents happen, but there is such a thing as being a responsible driver. I'm in shock that the kid walked the stage. That to me, shows no remorse for the death of that poor man!
