He was born Jan. 31, 1931, to Pedro F. and Isabel (Molina) Garcia in Beeville. He married Amelia Longoria in Beeville on Sept. 2, 1950. He was self-employed in the auto paint and body business. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro F. and Isabel Garcia, a daughter, Mary Lou Minjares, a sister, Gregoria Salazar; and two brothers, Antonio Garcia and Santiago Garcia.
Survivors include his wife, Amelia L. Garcia of Beeville; a daughter, Christina (Jacob) De Los Santos of San Antonio; five sons, Jesse A. (Maria) Garcia of Katy, John L. Garcia of Dallas, Jimmy L. Garcia and Javier L. Garcia, both of Houston, and Joe Garcia of Beeville; four sisters, Diana Gaitan of Kenner, La., Petra Olivares of San Antonio, and Ernestina Garcia and Evila Garcia, both of New Orleans, La., three brothers, Vicente Garcia of San Antonio and Alvino (Isabel) Garcia and Lupe (Celia) Garcia, both of Houston; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. this morning (Wednesday) at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, with Father Luke officiating. Burial followed in the San Pedro Cemetery in Clareville.
Pallbearers were Jesse Garcia, Javier Garcia, Jimmy Garcia, Joe Garcia, Jacob De Los Santos and Jaime De Los Santos.
Honorary pallbearers were Jacob De Los Santos, Julian Longoria and Esteban Longoria.
