He was born on Sept. 21, 1932, in Pawnee to Pedro and Petra (Acevedo) Rodriguez. He was a retired diesel mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Ismael Rodriguez.
Survivors include his wife, Elva (Longoria) Rodriguez of Beeville, eight sons, Mauricio Rodriguez, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Robert (Teresa) Martinez of Beeville, Gilbert (Lupita) Gonzales of Kingsville, Cruz Hurrey of Baton Rouge, La., David (Patricia) Ramirez of Beeville, Samuel (Veronica) Rodriguez and Rene (Janie) Rodriguez, both of San Antonio and Robert (Rosa) Rodriguez of Houston, eight brothers, David (Lydia) Rodriguez, Bene (Eva) Rodriguez, Toribio (Frances) Rodriguez, Domingo (Anita) Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriguez and Noe (Elma) Rodriguez, all of Beeville, Santos Rodriguez of Corpus Christi and Abel (Esther) Rodriguez of Karnes City, five sisters, Eustacia Saenz of Lubbock, Tomasita Alvarado of Brownfield, Alicia Garza of Normanna, Rebecca Rodriguez and Dolores (Gary) Richards, both of Beeville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Treviño Funeral Home. The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Eddie Garcia officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers were Victor Guzman, Carlos Salazar Jr., Diego Contreras, David Rodriguez, Noe Rodriguez and Daniel Rodriguez.
