Steven Anthony Martinez, aka “Blackie,” 29, was indicted by the Live Oak County Grand Jury on two counts of drug possession. Count one - possession of controlled substance PG1-cocaine with intent to deliver (4 grams < 200 grams) and count two - possession of marijuana (4 ozs. < 5 lbs.). “While officers were serving another warrant on Martinez they developed information that led to his arrest for these charges,” said Live Oak Sheriff Larry Busby.
On Aug. 18, Three Rivers Police Chief Vance Roberts and Cpl. J.R. Rodriguez arrested Martinez on another charge and during the arrest Rodriguez said he asked Martinez for verbal consent to search his residence. Allegedly, Martinez said, “Yes, but only the bedroom.” Martinez allegedly showed the officers where he had some illegal drugs in vacuumed packs, according to the police narrative.
Roberts suspected the clear vacuumed packs contained marijuana and he “...stopped the search and obtained a search warrant to search the rest of the residence” as indicated by the police narrative. The officers charged Martinez with the original felony warrant and possession of marijuana of more than 4 oz. but less than 200 grams. District Judge Mike Welborn ordered Martinez be held with no bond and he remains in the Live Oak County jail.
Additionally, the LOC Grand Jury indicted Martinez’s wife, Selena Renee Martinez, on two counts of drug possession. Count one - possession of controlled substance PG1-cocaine with intent to deliver (4 grams < 200 grams) and count two - possession of marijuana (4 ozs. < 5 lbs.).
According to sheriff’s arrest records, Martinez’s wife, Selena Renee Martinez, 26, was also arrested on Aug. 18 and charged with possession of marijuana of more than 4 oz. but less than 5 lbs. and possession of a controlled substance of more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams. District Judge Janna K. Whatley set her bond at $15,000.
Christian Nicole Perez, 22, of Three Rivers was indicted for forgery-making. Perez was arrested on March 18 at 3:23 p.m. at her place of employment. “Perez [allegedly] asked a friend to cash a check at a [local business establishment]; the check had been altered,” said Busby. Live Oak County Deputy John Brosig investigated the forgery offense that allegedly took place on March 14 continued Busby. Justice of the Peace Judge Jim E. Lane magistrated Perez and set her bond at $3,000. Upon indictment, Whatley continued Perez on the same bond.
Jerald Thomas Pruchnicki, 32, of Three Rivers was indicted on two counts of indecency with a child. Count one – indecency with child by contact and count two - indecency with child by exposure. The suspect allegedly committed the acts on a minor female in July and August of last year said Busby. Whatley issued a capias and $25,000 bond.
Carmina Ann Garcia was indicted for burglary of a building. Busby said, “She is a co-defendant in a burglary that took place at Three Rivers School. We have a warrant out for her arrest. She is a fugitive.” Whatley ordered a capias and $10,000 bond for Garcia.
Giovanni Torres, 26, of Wyoming, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance PG1-cocaine with intent to deliver (4-200 grams). According to police records, Torres was arrested by Three Rivers Police Chief Roberts after a traffic stop at U.S. Hwy 281 and Hwy. 72 on April 16 at approximately, 9:40 a.m. “Torres was driving a 2002 Chevrolet two-door. During the traffic stop, Roberts discovered Torres was in possession of a substance he believed to be cocaine which is a second degree felony,” said Busby. Torres was magistrated by Justice of the Peace, Pct. 1 Judge Elizabeth Ellis; she set bond at $25,000. Torres posted bond and was out the next day. Whatley continued Torres on the same bond.
Susana Rodriguez Barboza, 31, of George West was indicted for theft of property valued at $1,500 or more but less than $20,000, which is a state jail felony, said Busby.
According to police investigation records, Barboza allegedly stole from her employer over a period of time. Barboza’s employer has a system to keep detailed sales records, said Busby. She was arrested on March 13 by George West Police Chief Ray Garcia and GW Police Officer Jason Lee and charged with theft $1,500 < $20,000. She was magistrated by Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2 Virginia Tanguma. Bond was set at $20,000; Barboza posted bond the next day. Whatley continued her on the same bond.
James Addison Holmes, 30, of George West was indicted on three counts. Count one- aggravated assault, threat with deadly weapon-enhanced. Count two- aggravated assault threat with deadly weapon-enhanced and count three- arson enhanced. Holmes allegedly set fire to his home in June and was held by George West Police until he could be examined by MHMR. Following the examination, he was taken to South Texas Regional Hospital in Jourdanton for further examination. From there he was transported to San Antonio State Hospital for further medical and psychological analysis. Upon his return he was arrested (June 21) for arson and aggravated assault-use of a deadly weapon by George West police. Busby said his charges are enhanced because he has already been to the penitentiary at least two times.
George West Municipal Judge Patricia Lanford magistrated Holmes and set his bonds at $75,000 for each charge. Whatley lowered his total bond to $50,000; however, he remains in the LOC jail.
Richard De La Cruz, Jr., 38, of San Antonio was indicted for driving while intoxicated-enhanced. De La Cruz was arrested on April 5 by DPS Trooper Richard Russell for suspicion of DWI open container. During the booking process, it was discovered De La Cruz had been sentenced to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) center at least two other times, therefore his charges were enhanced. The following day, Three Rivers Municipal Judge Dawn Benham magistrated De La Cruz and set his bond at $25,000. He posted bond and was released. Upon indictment Whatley continued him on the same bond.
Juan Estrada Galvan, 46, of San Antonio was indicted for driving while intoxicated-enhanced. Galvan was arrested by DPS Trooper Scott Jendrzey on July 20 at 10:40 p.m. on IH-37 near mile-marker 71 for suspicion of DWI. During the booking process, it was discovered Galvan had been to TDCJ at least two other times and his charges were enhanced, said Busby. Galvan was magistrated by Lane on July 21 and bond was set at $3,000. He did not post bond and remains in the LOC jail.
Brandon Michael Williams, 35, and Robert Louis Parker, 36, both of Missouri, were each indicted for possession of marijuana (5-50 lbs.), which is a third degree felony. Williams was stopped on May 16 by DPS Trooper Clarence Lewinski for a traffic violation on IH-37 at mile marker 63. During the traffic stop, it was discovered the driver (Williams) and his passenger (Parker) were in possession of marijuana (5 to 50 lbs.), according to the Live Oak County arrest logs.
They were taken into custody and magistrated by Benham. She set bond at $32,000 for each suspect. They each posted bond on May 18 and were released. Upon indictment, Whatley continued them on the same bonds.
Richard Anthony Salinas, 23, of Donna, TX was indicted on two counts. Count one - possession of controlled substance PG1-cocaine with intent to deliver (200-400 grams) and count two - possession of marijuana (5-50 lbs.). Salinas was operating a 1994 GMC van and was pulled over by DPS Trooper Jason Galvan for a traffic violation on Hwy. 281 at Hwy. 59 at 12:26 a.m. on June 30. During the traffic stop Galvan discovered a substance he suspected of being cocaine. Salinas was taken into custody and Benham magistrated Salinas the next day. She set his bonds at $50,000 for the cocaine charge and $25,000 for the marijuana charge. Upon indictment, Whatley continued Salinas for the same total in bonds.
Tamara Jean Blackman was indicted on two counts of tampering with governmental records. This indictment was to make a correction of the suspect’s name from a previous indictment, said Busby.
Sergio Arnoldo Gonzalez, aka Burglar, aka Chico, aka Chilo, 25, of Pharr was indicted for possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver - penalty group one – enhanced. “The indictment came as a result of a traffic stop by George West PD,” said Busby.
Gonzalez was pulled over by George West police officer Jerry Morin on Oct. 19 at approximately 10 p.m. During a driver’s license check, it was discovered there was a warrant from Hidalgo County on Gonzalez. A subsequent search of Gonzalez’s vehicle revealed he was in possession of a substance Morin suspected of being “Ecstasy”. Gonzalez was taken into custody and magistrated by Benham. She set bond for the controlled substance charge at $10,000; however no bond was allowed on the warrant.
