Little information is available concerning a two-car accident just before 8 p.m. Tuesday on FM Road 673 near the large oak tree, just northwest of Beeville.

The investigating officer, Highway Patrol Trooper Santiago Montez, has been unavailable for comment since the accident.

Assistant Fire Chief Bill Burris said his department was called to the scene at 7:50 p.m. to extract a woman from one of the two vehicles involved. He said the car had overturned and the woman was trapped inside.

Gabriel Aleman of the Angel Care Ambulance Service said he believes the woman was 22 years old but he did not have a name or specific age of the victim.

Burris said the woman was flown out by a helicopter from PHI Air Ambulance of Victoria and Aleman said the victim was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi.

Aleman said he was not certain of the extent of the woman’s injuries but he believed the helicopter evacuation was ordered in the event she had suffered internal injuries.

Burris said local firemen used the Jaws of Life to take off the passenger side door so she would be removed from the car.

Aleman said a boy and a man, who also were unnamed, were taken by ambulance to Christus Spohn Hospital in Beeville for treatment.

Again, Aleman said he was not sure of the extent of their injuries but he did not think they were serious.

More information on the accident should be available in the next edition of the Bee-Picayune.
