Bishop

Edsel M. Bishop, 83, of Crestview, Fla., died on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007.

He was born June 23, 1924, in Milligan, Fla. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 697 in Kerrville and was a 33rd degree Mason, a York Rite, and a member of the Alzafar Shrine Temple, all in San Antonio. He retired from the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Ella Bishop; two brothers, Clifford and Frank Bishop; one sister, Louise Bishop; and one daughter, Leah Richelle Smith.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 40 years, Sandra Pieper Bishop of Beeville; two sons, Marshall Bishop and wife Sunny of Gilmanton, N.H. and John Bishop and wife Vicki of Virginia Beach, Va.; three daughters, Lana Garner and husband John of Kingsland, Ga., Donna L. Gibson of Beeville, and Kim Davis of Crestview, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Masonic Lodge in Kerrville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 370 West Redstone Ave., Crestview, FL 32536.
