During a 5:30 a.m. offender count, it was determined by officers that two

offenders were missing. At that time, they were identified as 36-year-old

Jeremy Steven Robinson and 39-year-old Robert Anderson. A subsequent count

was conducted and confirmed that two inmates were missing.

Officers began a rigorous search of the unit's perimeter. Scent-specific

tracking dogs were brought in and at about 9 a.m., led officers to a waste

container behind the facility -- a large receptacle holding trash and food

remnants. The offenders were hiding among the waste inside the receptacle.

Both men were taken into custody without incident. At that time, it was

discovered that the inmate previously identified as Robert Anderson was in

fact inmate Abelino Monge. Monge and Anderson had exchanged TDCJ

identification cards, and Anderson was posing as Monge in Monge's assigned

cell.

The men will be placed in administrative segregation, TDCJ's highest level

of custody. Robinson and Monge could face felony attempted escape charges,

while Anderson could face a charge of aiding an escape.

Robinson is serving a life sentence for a 2004 murder charge out of Harris

County. He was received by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on Aug.

9, 2005. His criminal record also includes felony convictions for credit

card abuse, burglary of a building, forgery by passing and two counts of

engaging in organized criminal activity.

Monge is serving a life sentence for a 2005 capital murder charge out of

Harris County. He was received by TDCJ on July 6, 2007.

Anderson is serving a 60-year sentence for two counts of sexual assault of

a child, two counts of possession of child pornography and sexual

performance by a child, all out of Angelina County. He was received by the

Texas Department of Criminal Justice on March 30, 1999. His criminal record

also includes a felony conviction for aggravated robbery with a deadly

weapon in 1988.
